Service pricing in Serbia: how to create a clear price list
How to choose fixed, hourly or “from” pricing, explain what is included and reduce unsuitable enquiries for your service.

A service price is more than a number. It tells the client what to expect and helps the provider avoid conversations that begin with one amount but end with a completely different scope of work.
In Serbia, the same service can vary by city, experience, urgency, materials and travel. There is no universal formula. There is, however, a practical way to make pricing clear enough for a client to decide and flexible enough for a real job.
Calculate your real cost first
Before comparing competitors, add up labour, travel, consumables, preparation, administration and the gaps between appointments. If the task takes one hour but travel and communication take another forty minutes, charging for the visible hour alone does not reflect the true cost.
Set a minimum amount below which an on-site job is not viable. You do not have to hide it: a minimum call-out or order can be stated clearly in the listing.
Choose a model clients can understand
The most common options are:
- Fixed price — useful when the scope is standard, such as a 60-minute consultation or a defined basic cleaning service.
- Hourly rate — appropriate when duration depends on conditions on site.
- Per session or person — natural for lessons, training and treatments.
- “From” price — suitable for a clear starting package with possible extras.
- Price on request — reasonable for complex projects, provided you explain how the quote is created.
“Price on request” without context moves all the work into the first conversation. A sample scope, minimum price or list of variables gives the client a useful reference point.
Clear pricing does not mean every job must cost the same. It means the client understands the rule before making an enquiry.
Define exactly what is included
Under the main amount, list the service components. A moving job might include a vehicle, two people and a fixed number of hours. A photography package might specify session length, edited images and delivery time. A repair price might include diagnostics and labour while parts are charged separately.
List possible extras separately:
- travel outside the base service area
- urgent or evening appointments
- additional materials
- extra hours or a return visit
- complexity that can only be assessed on inspection
If invoicing or tax status affects the total, explain the terms clearly and consistently with the way you operate. Avoid vague hidden items that appear only at the end.
Offer three packages when clients need a choice
For services that can be grouped, three packages are often clearer than a long table. A basic package solves the most common problem, the middle option adds convenience or volume, and the advanced option covers more demanding work.
Make the difference measurable. “Standard” and “Premium” mean little without duration, quantity, turnaround or an additional outcome. Do not make the lowest package deliberately unusable; each option should fit a real situation.
Account for location and timing
An on-site professional in Belgrade and an online consultant have different cost structures. For local work, define the base area and the rule for more distant locations. Publish a weekend or same-day surcharge only if you genuinely apply it.
When duration is predictable, add it together with current availability. Clients can then see both the price and when they can book. Our guide to setting up online service booking connects pricing with a realistic calendar.
Presenting your price list on Rsale
Use the title for the service, not a temporary discount. Choose the closest pricing model in the price field, then put five items near the top of the description:
- the base or “from” price
- what is included
- what can increase the total
- what information you need for an exact quote
- how long the quote remains valid if material costs change
Work photos and a complete profile give the price context. Chat can then focus on job details instead of repeating the basic offer. If this is your first listing, start with how to advertise a service and find clients.
Test the price list without changing it at random
After several relevant enquiries, look at where conversations stall. If everyone asks what is included, the issue may be the description rather than the amount. If almost every job requires a surcharge, the starter package may be poorly defined. If your calendar remains full, check whether the price still covers higher costs and limited capacity.
A useful price list is not permanent. Update it when costs, scope or experience change, and refresh the listing so clients always see current terms.
Add your service and a clear price on Rsale. Publishing is free, and the agreement remains directly between you and the client.
